GLASTONBURY
Almost. Over the final three innings, Team OSI scored 10 runs and came within 3 of their first win. But they just couldn't catch Prudential CT Realty, losing 15-12.
Then again, who can stop a bunch of realtors once they get going?
Most of the damage was done by Darren "Mad Dash" Murray, who almost single-handedly ran Open Solutions back in to the game. In fact, his teammates nearly had to physically stop him from running up the back of players ahead of him on the bases. An example: In the 7th inning, with Jessica Hennigan on third and Murray on second, Lynn Cecere hit a routine ground ball and was thrown out at first. Hennigan scored from third on the play, yet right behind her, running like a rattle of hornets had just flew up his pant leg, was Murray, who also scored on the play—who scored from second base on an infield ground out.
After-game talk had it that Hennigan had footprints on the back of her jersey. But the rumors could not be confirmed.
In the end, Murray had five hits, including a double and a triple, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Hennigan, who batted before Murray in the lineup and was running for her life most of the game, had 3 hits and 3 runs scored. And Cecere, who batted behind Murray, drove in 5 runs on 2 hits. In all, nine Open Solutions players had at least 2 hits in the game, their best offensive effort of the season.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Prudential lead Team OSI on, let them think they had a chance, said that yes, they've scored enough runs, said that sure, the winning contracts were being drawn up…but then they stopped answering Team OSI's calls and finally said, "Ooooh, too bad, it seems you were outscored. You lose."
Realtors. They're all the same.
