OSI 6 - Last Place 11

GLASTONBURY

In TeamOSI's 3 wins they have averaged 13 walks per game. They drew 17 walks in a season-high 19 run effort against the Salmon Brook Steel Heads. In this game, though, they managed to go the whole game without taking a single base on balls. None. Not one walk.

And they lost.

They lost to a team named Last Place.

As with many of their games this season, things started out well. Open Solutions' first two hitters smacked singles and scored, and by the middle of the second they had a 4-2 lead. Then in a sloppy bottom of the second they gave up 5 runs and fell behind 7 to 4.

But through the middle innings, TeamOSI tightened up their defense and held Last Place scoreless over the next three innings. After adding two runs of their own on an Amy Baldwin double in the 4th, Open Solutions started to think about another late game comeback.

Then came the 6th inning. Last Place scored 4 runs, took an 11 to 6 lead, and the idea of an Open Solutions comeback looked about as likely as a Trump-O'Donnell love child.

Still, to make it interesting, TeamOSI loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh. Yet that was as close as they got: they loaded the bases, but they didn't score. And they lost.

They lost to a team named Last Place.

Notes: In the game, Amy Baldwin had 3 hits and 2 RBI, John Jeffrey had 3 hits and 3 runs, and Mark Starybrat had 2 hits and 2 RBI. But they still lost.
