OSI 19 - Salmon Brook Steel Heads 14

GLASTONBURY

A WIN!

And the streak begins!

Team OSI walked to their first win of the season, a 19 to 14 come-from-behind victory over the Salmon Brook Steel Heads. It was a total team effort, from starting off the game by scoring three runs in the top of the first to the cheering and hopping around like toddlers on a sugar high after the final out. Everyone contributed to the win--even the Steel Heads, who walked 17--no, that's not a misprint--they walked seventeen Open Solution players. Team OSI also pounded out 18 hits.

Fourteen Open Solutions players got into the game and all fourteen reached base at least once, while three players got on base four times. Mark "KFC" Starybrat had 4 hits, Tracy "Shins" Piazza walked 4 times and scored 4 runs, and Jesse "The Nicknamer" Mast had a hit and 3 walks.

Also having notable games: Joe "Softball Master" Pangia had 4 RBI on 2 hits, Laura "Dog Walker" Voight had 3 RBI, and Jessica "Play's to Second" Hennigan scored 3 runs.

Defensively, the team played an outstanding game, as well. After the Steel Heads took a 10-7 lead in the third, Team OSI then held them to only 4 runs over the final four innings, while scoring 12 runs of their own. But the defensive play of the game--maybe of the season--was a remarkable diving backhanded grab by Amy "The Catch" Baldwin. The play was so good that even the Steel Heads stood and applauded.

So Team OSI's win streak has now reached one. With a bullet.

Watch out league.
